I’m supposed to be taking a break… but instead I have insurance drama. There’s always some sort of drama and this time, it had to be insurance. I’m paying waaaay too much for it. Now that I’m married and a college graduate and everything, I shouldn’t be paying $100 a month for insurance.
Oh yeah and also, we need a place to live
This wasn’t such a problem the other day when we bid on a house and thought we were pretty much golden. Turns out the people who bid a couple hours before us (and offered the asking price! yeesh) are more golden. So now we’re back to square one.
Also! If you’re going to have a kid, don’t name them after you. Especially if you have bad credit. Because that makes twice as much work for your kid when it comes time to buy a house. Just sayin.
Will we actually move into a house? Perhaps. Either way, we can’t renew our lease here so we’re definitely moving somewhere. That means I had to clean out my yarn… and everything else. Although the everything else is less important than the yarn, so it’ll get done later (maybe). Thankfully I had the Mr. help me out:

Things around here have been pretty crazy! First of all, Harry Potter came out this past weekend. (Yes, this blog that nobody knows about yet has brought you that earth shattering information.) I drug the Mr. to the midnight release party for it, which was pretty fun. Then I pretty much spent the whole weekend reading, since I’m not an especially fast reader and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to get on the internet without having it finished.
Either way, I know that I won’t be having any finished knitting products to show for a long while, since things are going to be ridiculously crazy, so I figured I’d go ahead and show you the other stuff I’ve finished that I’ve taken pictures of. The last thing I finished was for my granma. When she was here for my birthday in March, I had just started a bracelet for my friend for her graduation. Granma really liked it, so I thought, I’ll make her one, why not?

Yep, another knitty.com patter: Perdita. The pattern maker is behind A Mingled Yarn, which is one of those knitting blogs that’s given me so much inspiration.
It also made me realize that I’m too biased when it comes to picking patterns. I almost always pick one that has buttons. I think I’m a little button obsessed.

Yeah, buttons are pretty awesome.

Look, I’m not a huge fan of Michael Jackson as of late- but you can’t tell me that Thriller wasn’t an amazing record. My favorite part of the opening song is the HEE-HAW part. (If you don’t know, you just don’t know man.) That being said…
A long while ago, about ten years now, my granma on my dad’s side sat me down one day and taught me how to knit. I was a pretty crafty kid and it was a good way to spend time with my granma as she’s the most crafty person I think I’ve ever met. She had already taught me how to crochet and I spent a whole summer putting those tri-corner beads onto white socks. Here’s an equation:
+
= Crazy Fun Summer
I thought, knitting- AWESOME!
So she bought me some pink yarn, as that was my favorite color of all time and some needles and I got to scarf making. I learned how to cast on some crazy way and knit garter stitch. That’s the level I pretty much stayed at. Since granma lives over the river and through the woods I never really learned how to cast off right or how to purl.
I thought knitting was actually a little lame. Then one day, the world wide web, aka my bff told me that knitting is actually really cool and there are all kinds of cool people on the internet talking about knitting, designing “hip” things to knit and all kinds of groovy things. So it was a little while ago, maybe a year, maybe two that I decided, okay, it’s time to learn how to purl.
So purling wasn’t hard to learn, granma sent me a learn how to do basic stuff video that was kind of horrible, but it got the point across. I was teaching my friends how to knit at this point. That’s the thing, my motivations are horrible. I’m mostly learning how to do more stuff in knitting just so the people I’ve taught aren’t outdoing me. Which they always are anyways, so that’s whatever- I can still keep the dream alive.
After puttering around some, here’s what I finally made:

That’s right- It’s fetching, that great hand warmer pattern everyone in my family got a pair of for Christmas last year. I love knitty. You’ll see that in upcoming posts especially.

Let’s start this blog off on the right foot!
I hope it doesn’t suck.
Great, now that we’ve gotten that over with. I’ve honestly been thinking about doing the whole knitting blog thing for a while. Been kicking around some ideas and I will hopefully end up implementing them. However, I am a lazy lazy person. Just be warned. My goal is to get rid of the random iPod chick on the side of this here blog.
Hopefully all of my plans will come to fruition.
However, the thing that was keeping me away from the knitting blog realm was the fact that a lot of people have them and they do them well. I don’t do blogs so well. So yeah. I guess I’m just laying this all out for you so you’ll know not to put a lot of hopes and dreams on me. Anyways, enough talk, let’s post some of my knitting already!
