Granma’s house

It’s actually a house that was built by my great grandparents. They even built on a sauna. Although you almost need to have something like that, living in Minnesota. My Granma was getting rid of some of the things in her basement and just some of her things in general, so I made a video about the things that I brought back from her house.

She also showed me her most recently finished project. A scarf for a woman who mentioned wanting something with a zig-zag pattern. Granma actually whipped this scarf up off the top of her head, no pattern or anything!

I’m always so impressed with her knitting. Actually, I usually just so impressed with her.

She then took the leftover yarn and made a headband up, just to get the most out of the whole experience. When I told her I liked it she said, “of course you do, there’s a button on it.”

It got my ears zero to roasty-toasty in one minute flat.

In other news, I took a picture of my sock yarn and tried to get it all in once place.

It’s hard not to slip into denial. Say, oh that doesn’t look so bad. But then I remembered that I had two suitcases and my sock yarn used to reside in the smaller of the two cases. Now it’s in the bigger of the two and, to be honest,

the lid doesn’t even close anymore! It’s not like I can just take some of the sock yarn out and put it in the smaller case either. I’ve already filled the smaller one up with lace yarn. So, I really need to put my head down and commit to Stash Killers even more now. Guess I’ll go ahead and wrap this up with a picture of myself from the car.

Love ya!

Cabin Fever

a la Muppet Treasure Island:

(Big ups to mollylouhoo, her post made me remember this song.)

Flashback!

The pure mention of this song gets it stuck in my head!

Yesterday I finished Clue One of the Spring Shawl Surprise:

I’ve never taken pictures of lace before, does this look okay? Too busy?

Detail of the side that’s the least jacked up.

Of course, a new clue is out and since Granma is going to be in a car for two days, I’ve got to knock this next one out if I want to keep up with her. When I’m not busy being a lace maniac (complete with trances and possible lace murders) I’m knitting on this puppy:

Hedera.

I turned the heel, so it’s all sunshine and roses here. Well except for the rain and general gloom. But, I did make my own laundry detergent the other day and that’s all that matters! Wait- what?

Oh look, Justin Timberlake (back when he had a bleached ‘fro, has everyone forgotten that fact?)

What are your favorite flashback songs that you either love/hate/love to hate? (Think it out loud in the comments pretty please, I want to know I’m not alone in my delusions.)

Complete fluff.

I just decided, why not make a completely fluff post? (We can pretend all of these aren’t usually that and act like me acknowledging it this time gives the other ones some substance, kthx.) Most of these I found through this forum that I’m on… it’s strictly for robots though.

Wizard Swears:

Heh.

You wanna buy a ghost?

Disturbing alternate DuckTales intro:

Also, if you don’t live around Ohio, we actually got some snow. It’s winter before February this year. Weird.

I was feeling so stressed out by holiday knitting and just decided to give up on the projects I’m working on right now and read the rest of Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. Wow! That book was so lame at the beginning but it definitely picked up. Well everything good happened in like a three day span that made me think we could’ve just cut through the preceding months of back story and gotten right to the chase. Of course back in the day I guess people wanted to get their monies worth when it came to books… or something.

Real Talk.

(If you click it, obviously since it’s R. Kelly, it’s NSFW… probably not safe for most living organisms either, hehehe.)

LazerPaca

::pewpew::

Yes, he will shoot you up with his lazer eyes.

Earlier today (yesterday now?) we went to Alpaca Fest 2007, woooo! The other day my husband saw an actual ‘Girls Gone Wild’ van, sitting in a hotel parking lot. It’s my guess that they were waiting for Alpaca Fest.

…jealous yet?

I honestly don’t know too much about alpacas, just that I like to knit with their protective layering. Exposing them to the harsh environments BECAUSE I CAN. What I found out today is that alpacas are total camwhores. The second they see a camera they start mugging it up, striking poses, working it, thinking they’re going to strike it rich on the internet. This one in particular caught my fancy:

They were convincing. I took a bunch of crappy camera video recordings, mostly of them eating. It was like seeing a bunch of giant cats in pens. They ate. They pooped. Some slept. Most of them stared at you angrily. We walked around the area where they were showing them off for a while before realizing there was like a whole huge building full of alpacas and some yarn. Only some. I wanted more. There was a woman sitting on a couch and spinning yarn, that was cool… however she was just there to tempt me, she wasn’t actually selling any of her handspun yarn. Friggin evil.

(covet)

Okay, well it’s getting late and I’m trying to embed one of those pointless videos and the intarwebs are not feeling me on this. However, I’ll be back soon to talk about what I’m actually knitting. (*gasp* I’m actually knitting??) Also to talk about my plans for future knitting. Plus, I want these stitch markers. Although they will make me fat. (Check out the donut ones, they’re so amazing and detailed.)

working now?
