Go Team Venture!

This weekend has been up and down. However, I did manage to finish my FIRST pair of socks. Hoo yeah!

SHPLADOW!

Actually, knitting socks was weird. I definitely did feel my interest waning during the second sock. Although to be fair that second sock had it out for me. If you look at the socks together, you’d think the second sock was the first since it looks so wack.

(which do you think I made first?)

Either way, I feel super accomplished. Although it’s made me wonder, what next? I’m tired of the big project. I think we’ve given ourselves a ‘whenever the hell it gets done’ deadline on that sucker. So that leaves things wide open. Gloves for John’s mom? Dad’s hat? I’ve been thinking about finally knitting that turtle. He called to me last night said “You know you want to knit me and when I exist, you can call me Archibald.”

Thanks Baldy.

Also, here’s me and my new best friend:

My mom wants to borrow my car. :(

Edit: I just decided to edit this and not complain like a whiney complainer. I’m having troubles with my mom and I think I’m going to talk to her about it tomorrow. Because supposedly I’m an adult and that’s what we do, we talk about things.

At least Jessica and Joey’s party was a lot of fun:

Most of the men folk. We played Apples to Apples for at least three hours. Seriously. It was some xhardxcorex game playing. I was seriously winning, then everyone turned against me, as they typically do when you’re winning and they wouldn’t let the game end until someone had more than me. However, after the game ended, Jessica was looking at the rules and it said the first person to 8 won, so IN YOUR FACE SUCKERS! Ha! I’m a totally gracious winner.

Back in time for bad weather!

I’m back from Minnesota! I brought a finished Jaywalker and bad weather with me though. So yeah, here are the different angles of the one sock I managed to finish in two weeks worth of knitting time:

Can you tell how proud I am of this friggin sock?

Also, knitting this sock was exactly what I needed. I don’t know yet if I’m a “sock knitter” or a “lace knitter” or a whatever knitter. I just know that when I’m feeling burnt out on projects and I knit something on a size two needle, coming back to something on a size 8 needle makes me feel better. Like, man, I’m flying through this thing, I’ll be done in no time!

While I was in MN, lots of stuff happened, which I figured that would mean more pictures… but I actually didn’t take all that many. Well, compared to the fiftybajillion I usually take. One thing that I did was go to some pottery place with granma, where we painted mugs:

I was painting one for my swap partner. Hopefully it’ll turn out cool, I’ll find out when Granma mails it to me! She painted a giant soup mug thing for Granpa, which was adorable and said I Love You and had a little heart at the very bottom. Which isn’t that just so sweet? I know that if I just drank a bowl of soup and saw a little heart at the bottom I might sigh contentedly thinking “aw gee, I married a swell gal.” Especially if I were a Little Rascal.

Sorry this post is lame. It’s honestly just lame and grey and icky out and I want to drink soup out of a bowl/mug that has a little heart at the bottom of it and just merge into the couch.

Mucky Muck

Oh man, I’ve hit a road block. As of right now, my pumpkin sits with stuffing in it but no top. I wanted to do a pipe cleaner type deal but now I think I’m just stalling. I blame it all on the cat sweater. I just keep looking at those sleeves and thinking… man, I really hate you.

What will get me motivated to finish this stuff? Hopefully new (to us) furniture because that’s what we’ve been doing lately. We got a kitchen and a coffee table. Well, the coffee table still needs to be picked up.

Also, maybe a new project?

Since I’m going to MN on Wednesday, I figured it was about time I started my first pair of socks. So, to drive myself crazy I’ve decided to make a pair of Jaywalkers first off. Since everyone seems to love them.

Hope you like the random picture of my desk also. It’s actually pretty clean. We just put a stand next to it for the printer… although you can’t see it in the picture and the printer is just kind of magically floating in the air. Huh.

(without a flash, I think the colors look more accurate.)

I’m not going to lie. This four needles thing is freaking me the hell out. There are one too many needles going on for me. My mind was blown with three. Four is just- get out of town.

My thinking is that if I get hung up (say after the simple 2×2 ribbing) I can ask my Granma what I’m supposed to do. She might just shrug, but hopefully she’ll have some answers. Also, I’m going to Minnesota for a week, so expect some random pictures from that.

Darn you knitters block!
