Wait- Christmas is how freaking close?!

Less than a week away. Then, you know what that means right?! The year will be over. Kristie already has me thinking about resolutions, which makes me spazzy because I need to focus on one thing at a time. Instead, I’ll just think about a million things at a time and not get any of them done- sound like a deal?

As far as knitting resolutions though, next year will be a stash buster year. I have a bunch of yarn just sitting around wanting to be knit. I really need to do that. So I’m not going to buy any yarn, especially for big projects for a while. I might buy sock yarn but only if I need a special kind for that class and not others because I have a lot of that starting to pile up too. It’s not a lot compared to some people but it’s a lot to me! I guess that’s kind of a scattered sounding resolution. Most people fly in here (here being the internet) with lists and bullets or maybe even a chart or graph. What else?

Oh yeah! My other resolution is to read The Tale of Genji next year. Whew, now that the heavy lifting is done, we can get to the real fluff.

The nutcrackers are back! Along with my snowglobes. I guess the windchimes detract from the Holidayness of it but they add to the zaniness and that’s just as good.

Isn’t he a cutie? This is our first ornament. I liked that they turned the bow around for John’s side. So tricky, you never would know there was a bow there! When I first got it I was all tormented thinking about how it said “the first” instead of “our first” because that’s a lie when you think about it, it’s not THE FIRST. But it was the first in an epic saga of Christmas ornaments.  Or will be eventually. If I ever get around to, you know making things in my life as epic as they are in my head. ::air guitar solor::

Here’s this years! Isn’t it amazing? My buddy Crystal made it, you remember her right? I love the little fuzzy ball on the hat. :D

Oh yeah and since it isn’t the new year yet, I checked out a store called WonderKnit the other day. They had some really nice luxury yarn there. Plus they gave me a fancy bag!

I got the pot holder at Wholly Craft! and I plan on giving it to my mom. Speaking of my mom- she’s going to get some amazingly kick ass Christmas gifts this year. I don’t want to toot my own horn here, I’m just saying: damn.

Are you tired of me yet?

While the merry bells keep ringing..

So I’ve pretty much decided that I don’t feel rushed or pressured this year. I’m just doing the fun stuff that comes with Christmas. And if nobody is satisfied with their presents this year they can just EAT ME.

While I should have been out figuring out what the heck my dad wants for Christmas… I decided to get a Christmas tree instead. Which Shmoo was very helpful with.

Well, she could only do so much without the thumbs and everything.

As much as I love the tree, it’s missing something. Or well, a few somethings. Like a skirt (oh my!), garland and a topper. Psht. Just a few things. However it does have lights! Which John is both entertained (“can we light the tree now?”) and frightened (“holy crap that’s red!”) by. But he made the final decision that we should have a red red siren song tree. So, here it is all lit up pretty like:

Isn’t Shmoo a beautiful model? Honestly, I couldn’t get a picture without her in the frame. She is seriously digging this Christmas stuff.

I’m just excited that we have a big time grown ass adult tree now. Although I still love our Charlie Brown Christmas tree… I want to do something with it but I don’t have enough ornaments to split between the two trees. In fact I’m a little worried our BTGAAT is going to fall over because I put everything on the front to make it look like we’ve got something going on.

Speaking of which, I want to share some of our ornaments with you. So I’ll do that when one for this year. Hopefully. Usually I go shopping with my dad for Christmas (and we get one then) but I don’t know how much that’ll work out this year.  It’s a pretty fun tradition though!

Well, I also made a gingerbread house! With my friend Heather and her mom.

Are you all in the holidy spirit yet or what??

When life gives you knitting needle lemons-

I pulled this out of my bag the other day:

My needle completely splintered out of existence. Does this crap happen to people normally? All that was left was the metal holder and a little nub of wood. I want to say this was the first time something like this has happened with me and the Harmony needles but that’s a boldfaced lie. Because the other day my size 10 popped right out of the metal holder. Just like ::pop:: oh you didn’t need this right?

And me in my infinite wisdom thought, okay, no problem here, I can just superglue this thing and make it right, yeah?

Wrong!

So when life give you lemons, get a new camera:

Also, tie an ascot around your cats neck because that’s always hilarious. Or at least their indignant little faces are.

To be fair, Sax keeps scratching herself a new sore and since it would be mean to get a cone for her like you do with dogs, she gets the jaunty little neck tie. Also to be fair, I called knit picks all in a tiff and they said that no problem, they’d get me some new needles out. But while I’m waiting a month for them to get here because of all the holiday mail madness, will that vest make its Christmas deadline? So I got some Addi Turbo’s from my yarn shop. Which they found the whole story endearing in a “haha, that’s what you get for buying needles off the intarwebs sucker” sort of way.

You win this round Life.
